We always celebrate the Oscars.
We always have golden martinis (which are purdy strong so we gotta have snacks)
And gold is always a theme, of course. (I framed an 'official ballot' as the centerpiece)
Having a husband in the media industry has it's decor perks. Well, for this ONE occasion, anyway.
(Can you spot the medela bottle cap? If you can in under three seconds, you're SO a mom)
I only got 9 categories right this year :(
At the end of the night, we gave away a little 'Movie Date Night' gift bag to the lucky winner. (the winner got two dvds&popcorn (Kung Fu Panda&Cliffhanger for the cheesyness factor)
Thanks to all who came, we had a FUN night

Doh
Well. I taught my 9month old to drink out of a cup (not sippy cup, big ppl cup). Cute, right? I thought so, and he thought so. Well. Yesterday, Hubs is watching baby and splits to the other room for a sec. We all know what can happen for a sec when baby is involved. See, I am starting to wonder if our baby is smarter than us. Like, he can pull the outlet covers OUT of the sockets if he wants, he can unhook his paci clip,(and glares at us afterward with a big HUGE smile)& he has been able to climb all 14 of our stairs since he was 7months etc., etc., you get the picture.
So.
Husband is watching Baby and grabs something from the kitchen. I walk in, and see baby with a cup. Looks like Hubs’s coffee cup. Baby has been watching Hubs drink from it all morning (yes, he notices these things) So, of course he wants it, and of course he knows how to drink from big boy cups so he takes a huge swig of it.
Cut to today.
Baby wakes up, bright and bushy tailed, normal time. Everything’s normal, everyone’s happy. Only Baby doesn’t go down for his naps. For ten hours. Ten. Hours. No naps. All day, I’ve been frustrated, not because he’s fussy (bc he’s happy as a clam) but because I KNOW he needs to sleep and he won’t. What the heck???!!!
Then, I remember. The coffee. (sometimes it takes awhile to have effect).
Great. Moral? Don’t teach your kids. Ignorance=bliss.

Cute office for $100
For 100 bucks. I love it. I want one. Not hard to make either! Looks like it's mostly about painting walls&furniture and adding simple Ikea shelves. The curtains are a must. Here's where I found some instructions
DIY
I wish I had a closet that we weren't using that WASN'T in future baby room #2 (what can I say, I'm a planner).

God's Lollipops
Came across my old college pastor's family's (that's a lot of "'s") blog today. Just had to share a recent post of Christine's:
"My bank teller must be a dad.
Every time I go to the bank, he gives my children the exact same colored lollipops. I’ve never asked him to do this, but, without fail, he digs through the lollipop basket until he finds a matching set of Dum Dum lollipops.
He must be a dad because he knows about the fight he is saving me. The one where each of my boys are eyeing the lollipops they don't have rather than enjoying the one they do. The one where they fight and whine for their favorite color. The one in which they are not satisfied until they have what their sibling has.
So as I drive away from the bank window, I inwardly thank this man and think about this picture of human jealousy: envious, controlling, domineering, possessive, and self-focused.
God is not like my bank teller.
He gives lollipops out to everyone, but He does not give equally or similarly. He gives perfectly, however, and until we trust that, we’ll be dissatisfied with what we’ve been given.

This week I'm working on...
* Our wedding album. Yes, as in 3 years post-wedding, I'm just now getting to this. And it's because I got a coupon for scrapbooking that expires this week.
I'm so glad our pictures turned out better than these
Seriously, what were the photographers thinking? I'm no photographer, but really? (Still trying to decide what exactly is happening in that last one...the arm bands are a must, though.)
* Zumba (aerobic workout combining salsa, hip-hop and kick boxing) (I'm still deciding if we should buy the game for Xbox, any opinions?)
* Pre-cooking for Elijah's baby dedication this weekend. (Thanks AL!)
* Laughing. I may have a busy week ahead so I'm going to try to have a sense of humor. On that note, I'm re-blogging a joke found on Sb's blog :" How many new moms does it take to screw in a lightbulb? Three—one to spend all her energy researching lightbulb brands and green alternatives, then decide it's easier just to sit in the dark; one to wander around the store shopping for hours only to come home and realize she forgot to buy the lightbulb; and one to actually buy the bulb, change it, then break down in tears over how much better the other moms are doing"
Ha
* Praying for Justin. As some know, he has a big week this week. I'm in a mom's book club, and we're reading "Power of a Praying Wife". My prayer for Justin this week: Prov 3:3-4--"Bind mercy and truth around his neck and write them on the tablet of his heart so he will find favor and high esteem in the sight of God and man".

4 Things I've Been Craving Lately....
The warmer weather lately have got me wanting to get ready!
1)
(uncle goose lowercase blocks--I just need some for Elijah)
2)
(some new picnic baskets)
3)
I saw a version of this online, an eyelet ivory dress with pink sash from anthropologie. I'm coveting it
I saw this and thought it looked easy to make...any of my sewing friends out there--could I make this??
Or either of these? (in different colors)
Last but not least,
vodka martini cocktail--(Vodka, Sprite, fresh lime juice and a dash of organic berry juice for coloring)((PS, no I'm not an alcoholic, I just like pretty things)
Oh wait. It's 30degrees this Tuesday. Ugh the Austin sun is so deceiving!
:( Oh well. Three more months.
