I find him curled up in his big boy bed after he was supposed to be napping, wide awake.
Me: Are you okay buddy?
Elijah: Yeah. I was scared. But I asked Jesus to take care of me, and he took care of me, and He was here and he protecTED me.
Me: Did you pray to Jesus?
Elijah: No. I just talked to him.

Playing in the house with his plastic soldier sword. It's during a week that J hasn't been around much. I notice that he's swinging it around for awhile and talking to nobody.
Me: Elijah, what are you doing?
Elijah: I'm protecting you mommy from da bad guys. Ewijah is ALWAYS here to take care of you.

Before most dinners, he says as a routine:
Elijah (inspects food).: Did YOU make this mommy?
Me: (most of the time) Yes, Elijah.
Elijah: Thank you mommy, for making my dinner.
(in the occasion I say no, we have this awkward exchange, he looks at me, I look at him. He clearly doesn't know where to go from here. I ask:
Me; Elijah, do you want to thank me for going and BUYING your dinner?
Elijah: Uhhhh. Yeah. Thank you for buying my dinner mommy.
